Mission Statement
The Lake Geneva Art Museum was established to display and curate art work for the benefit of the area com-munity, both local residents and seasonal visitors, and to foster a continuous enjoy-ment of the arts for all people through its permanent collection and changing exh-ibits.
LGAM Goals
1. Bring a variety of featured artists' shows during 2010 to the community. This will allow LGAM the opportunity to share our future goals for the museum with as many people as we can while providing the public with the kind of
entertainment we will continue when we have a permanent location.
2. Actively work towards our 501(c)3 non-profit status so that LGAM may apply for government grants geared towards the arts.
3. Ultimately acquire a permanent location for housing art work and providing a venue for featured art shows.

Lake Geneva Art Museum was founded in 2009 by Elizabeth Chappell. She has been a community member for twenty three years and has most recently been very involved with the arts in Lake Geneva. She started by becoming a member of the Geneva Lake Art Association in 2006 providing art classes to all ages. She soon was named to a chair position on the board; heading the Art School of GLAA. Soon Elizabeth took her unique art classes to students of Central Den-ison, Summer Enrichment Program at the Middle School and evening classes at Badger High School through their Continuing Education Program.
In January of 2009, Elizabeth approached the City of Lake Geneva with a project to curate, and document properly, a collection of art that hangs in City Hall. The art was donated by area artists over the last 30 years. Elizabeth was able to work with the Mayor and an ad hoc committee to create a proposal that eventually was approved by the common council on October 12, 2009. It stated that the collection be formally recognized by the City, name the collection after, J. Douglas Elliott, who was responsible for soliciting the donations, and ultimately a new volunteer position of Curator of Public Art Work for the City of Lake Geneva would be created. The Mayor then appointed Elizabeth the first person to that position. While Elizabeth was working on the City's art collection project, she noticed that the wall space to hang additional art work at City Hall was quickly being used up. Recognizing this, in June 2009 Elizabeth founded Lake Geneva Art Museum to address the need for an institution in Lake Geneva that would be a proper place to house and curate art work of all mediums.
